Class of 2020, your graduation ceremony was postponed as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic. With this in mind, the 2020 commencement ceremony will now take place this fall over homecoming weekend on Sunday, September 27, 2020 at 1:30 PM in the Tyson Event Center. We have moved to a larger indoor venue so that our seating options can better accommodate social distancing.

The safe celebration of your 2020 Commencement Ceremony is our top priority. Below is some information that will help you to attend or participate in this weekend’s events.
New This Year | Charger Health Checks Only approved safe guests will be allowed to attend BCU events. All event attendees will need to complete a Charger Health Check to gain approval to visit campus or attend an event. To do this on the day of your event, please text “BCU Visitor” to the number 58052. Immediately, you will receive a link to the Charger Health Check survey, once you have completed that survey and received a green pass result you will be allowed to attend. Please be ready to show your pass result before entering any Briar Cliff University event.
Caps and Gown Pick Up Graduation gowns will be available for pick up in the Noonan Conference room. Friday, September 25 from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM and Saturday, September 26 from 9:00 AM to 12:00 PM. After receiving your approved green pass on your Charger Health Check, please visit campus during one of these times to pick up your graduation apparel. Call the bookstore at 712-279-5416 if you have any questions.
Guests Each graduate will be permitted a maximum of four guests for the 2020 commencement ceremony. You guest are welcome and encouraged to attend any other homecoming and graduation events with you. Please be sure to complete your Charger Health Check prior to attending any events and be cognizant of any other unique RSVP requirements for each event.
Safety Precautions: All graduates and their guests will be asked to show their approved Charger Health Check before entering the Tyson on commencement day. They will also be asked to supply and wear masks throughout the entire commencement event and follow social distancing standards whenever possible.
Arrival Times and Locations:
Guests – Doors will open at 12:30 PM, the ceremony will start promptly at 1:30 PM. Please plan to use the south facing, ground floor “Primebank: Box Office” entrance. Don’t forget to bring your event tickets, your mask or face shield, and be ready to show your completed Charger Health Check‘s approved pass.
Graduates, Faculty, and Administration – Plan to arrive by 12:30 PM report to ground floor of the southwest entrance of Longlines Family Rec Center. Please be wearing your cap, gown, and mask or face shield. Be ready to show your completed Charger Health Check‘s approved pass.
Board of Trustees and Award Recipients – You will have special reserved seating on the event floor. Please arrive any time after 12:30 PM using the ground floor of the southwest entrance of Longlines Family Rec Center. Don’t forget to bring your mask or face shield, and be ready to show your completed Charger Health Check‘s approved pass.
